Music Video Analysis

Avril Lavigne - What the Hell

The reality in this video is presented as you can do anything without consequences. I think this because in the video Avril Lavigne steals a cab, and crashes it into another car, yet she doesn't get in trouble or anything. I think it's presented this way because it's showing that she doesn't care anymore, and she's just having fun.

This video uses the general stereotype of pop music which is parties, dancing, and attractive people. Another symbol for pop music is that it's about a girl and a guy.

The values that are expressed in this video are that she doesn't care what people think, or what she does and that she can do whatever she wants. Another value that is expressed is that it's okay to make out with your boyfriend's friend, and your boyfriend will still want to be with you. (I wouldn't if I was him, just sayin')

I think it would appeal to teenagers because it’s about teenage life, and relationships. I think it shows things that teenagers are interested in and what teenagers do on a daily basis, like go to parties and hangout with guys or girls.

I think overall this is a good music video because it matches the song, and it goes well with what the song is saying. I also think it's creative and different from other music videos because it has a story throughout the whole thing and it doesn't cut in and out from a story to her singing on stage or something like that
